GOSPEL OUTREACH - Cass came to my door canvassing from an hour away in the big city. I asked why children deserved a fair chance and medical help, which is what she was canvassing for. We talked about being made in God’s image and she agreed with that. I said, “do you have a Christian background?” She said her Mom was Catholic and that her Dad wasn’t in the picture. In all her family struggles she held to God as her good Father. I said because God is good, He has a standard of goodness and took her through some of the commandments. She knew Jesus died on the cross for her sins and had two days ago bought a Bible for herself. I said, “it’s no accident that God is encouraging you by us talking to stand firm in your trust in Him.” I talked about Catholicism that the mass is a resacrifice of Jesus each week and that if we believe our sins are paid in full we can’t practice that lie. I asked if she went to church but she hadn’t found one. Please pray the Lord directs her to a good biblical church and that He would continue to grow her and sanctify her in the truth and in good discipleship and encouragement from a local congregation. I asked what the gospel was and how to share it to a dying person. She said she would say you are forgiven and pray over the person. I shared that our issue is our sin problem, that the wages of sin is death and that sends us to hell, breaking God's moral law. Since when we are born that is our problem and we can’t pray that away for ourselves let alone another. We need the Lord to intervene and He does by the sharing of the gospel that He stepped into our total depravity, He came close, He reached out and is willing to save us from all of our sin and give us the free gift of everlasting life with the One who cares for us the most. She got a gospel tract, Gospel of John and a Ten Commandment coin and said she actually had a man come up to her with a gospel tract recently in Toronto. It was a very good conversation about our true need as sinners and the importance of being in the Word. God bless that girl! GOSPEL OUTREACH - We were just at the local dump dropping off some larger items. I gave a Halloween-themed gospel tract to a lady named Lisa there as we hurled our trash on the heap. She immediately loved it. I asked her faith background and she said, “Well, my Mom is Roman Catholic and my Dad is a Jehovah’s Witness. I’m a polytheistic satanist. “ I said, “that probably makes for some interesting conversations.” She laughed and I thought we were done. She ended up coming back to me and asked, “What kind of Christian are you?” I said, “I’m a Christ follower. I recognize I’ve broken God’s moral laws. I’ve blasphemed God’s name, lied, stolen and done lots of dark things, but heard the gospel and realized Jesus paid my fine in full. I said, the gospel is that God stepped into our darkness in the flesh as Jesus, lived the perfect life we could never live, died on the cross and rose again defeating the power of sin and death forever. We broke God’s laws, Jesus paid our fine in full.” She said, “I’ve never heard that in my life. Don’t you need a little darkness though?” I said, “the darkness from sin that has been permitted is to show the contrast that the darkness doesn’t do anything for us but make us blind and we need the light to see. All other religions like JW and Catholicism you are trying to earn God’s favour, but in Christianity, Jesus paid it all, He is the Saviour, not us.” Trust the Lord to bring a great conversation between a Christian and satanist at a town dump. He is always working in the most unusual places. Please pray for Lisa that she would abandon the darkness of the occult and trust Jesus to pay her fine in full. It says in Scripture that we didn’t just like darkness, we were darkness before we knew Christ. Lets have compassion enough to share with those who are in absolute darkness this Halloween!
