About Us

Our Story

Testify Cafe is a meeting place for biblical truth where you can grab coffee, insight about the transformative work of Christ through video testimonies, and solid biblical resources from around the world that will help you boldly proclaim your faith. You may also browse our Outreach Blog that paints a picture of local witnessing and what God has been doing through it. Lindsay and Paul Whitfield began Testify Cafe with a prayer for their home country of Canada that God would equip more harvesters to learn how to share their faith, see the importance in doing so and boldly testify to the saving power of the Gospel. So they prayed for God to help lead them and did something about it.

“Do something; do something, do something! Our one aim is to win souls; and this we are not to talk about, but do in the power of God!’ -Charles Spurgeon

Our Beliefs

God

We believe in one God, the Creator of all things, immortal and eternally existing in three equally divine Persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is equal in his justice and mercy and his sovereignty holds all things together.

Scripture

We consider the authority of Scripture as the final authority over every aspect of our ministry and conduct. All sixty-six books of the Bible are the inspired, infallible, and inerrant Word of God. God has revealed Himself in the Person of His Son, the incarnate Word. In our depravity from Original Sin, the Old and New Testament reveal God’s plan to destroy death, brought on by our sin, and the New Testament shows us how He conquered sin and death forever through the atonement provided by His Son, Jesus Christ on the cross.

Mankind

God created human beings distinctly male and female as his image-bearers, caring for His creation and desiring justice and relationship with God and our fellow man. He has proclaimed value over every life from conception to its natural end and has called us to treat each other with respect, dignity, and value while holding to His unchanging truth found in His Word.

The Fall

Satan’s temptation in the Garden of Eden revealed our sinful nature by our forfeit of our good relationship with God to the idolatry of self worship. We believe the heart of man is deceitfully wicked from this sin nature and all of humanity are facing the ultimate Judgement of God because of it.

God’s merciful intervention has allowed for redemptive forgiveness through the atonement provided by His Son, Jesus Christ.

Jesus

God the Son became human to reconcile us to God: the Word became flesh, fully God and fully human being, one Person in two natures. Jesus, the promised Messiah of Israel, was conceived through the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He perfectly obeyed His heavenly Father, lived a sinless life, fulfilled all prophecy, performed miraculous signs, was crucified under Pontius Pilate, arose bodily from the dead on the third day, and ascended into Heaven. He is seated at the right hand of God and is our High Priest and righteous Redeemer. We believe that by His incarnation, life, death, resurrection, and ascension, Jesus Christ acted as our representative and perfect substitute. He did this so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God: on the cross He paid the debt of sin for us by reconciling to God all those who believe. By His resurrection, Jesus conquered death and defeated Satan and brought everlasting life to all who trust Him.  Jesus is the way, the truth and the life and salvation is found in no other name.

Justification

By Christ’s obedience and suffering sacrifice, He took our full punishment upon Himself and satisfied the just demands of God for our sins. Now through faith alone in Jesus’ perfect sacrifice, God’s mercy is credited to our account forever by grace alone.

The Holy Spirit

We believe that salvation, attested in all Scripture and secured by Jesus Christ, is applied to His people by the Holy Spirit. Sent by the Father and the Son, the Holy Spirit glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ, and is present with and in believers.

The Third Person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and by His powerful and mysterious work regenerates spiritually dead sinners. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. In Him they are baptized into union with the Lord Jesus, such that they are justified before God by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone. Believers are sanctified and adopted as a child of God through this inheritance. The Holy Spirit guides, equips and empowers Christians with a zeal for righteousness and a love for God and His church.

The Church and Its Great Commission

We believe God the Son, Jesus Christ has commanded all those in His church to share the moral law and the Gospel with the lost so the sinner can see their depravity by the law that leads to hell and seek God’s mercy through Christ. Christ loves His church and so should we love our brothers and sisters in the Lord by meeting together and building each other up in the Lord. As we build each other up in the Lord, we do so that we can then go and share God’s truth with the world. Evangelism is not for a few extroverts in the church but an honour bestowed to all Christians fuelled by a compassion for the lost, a love-driven discipline in His Word and the knowledge that God’s eternal justice awaits all those who reject the atonement of Christ.

The Resurrection

We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the just and the unjust; the unjust to judgment and eternal conscious punishment in Hell and the just (through the grace of Christ’s atonement) to an eternity on the restored new Earth, the home of righteousness where Jesus’ glory and holiness make heaven on earth.  Christ will have purged the world of sin and death forever and the triumph of His glorious grace will be evident for eternity.
